Global Activities

This year, and as successfully organized in 2022, we are opening calls for Global Activities. Under the theme of Local Rocks for Global People, we want to run a series of in-person events that focus on a carbonate-related question, for example the meaning and significance of some particular outcrop or core features.

We have secured some funding from the generous sponsorship of the IAS and SEPM to help you with the logistics of your activity.

Global Activity, Carbonate Forum 2022. Field trip to the Dorset Coast, Southern England

If you want to organize an activity where you are, such as a field trip, laboratory visit, workshop, etc., please submit your idea together with a preliminary budget and cost per participant, no later than 15th February 2026. But first please see the conditions below.

Conditions:

  1. These events will take place prior to the Forum and aim to connect local carbonate communities with the global carbonate community and build networks.
  2. Each event organizer will present a summary of their activity during the conference, with the aim of prompting virtual discussion of the identified questions, and to engage global interest in the local rocks.
  3. The events need to be run in association with an umbrella organization, such as a local university or geological society, which will be able to offer you appropriate support, particularly with respect to HSE, insurance, and liability protection. You will not be able to submit your activity without proof of this support (letter-headed document, official email, etc.), so please make sure to obtain it before submitting to the Google Form.

Thanks to the IAS and SEPM for their sponsorship of Global Activities
